Donation Guidelines for Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Please bring your gently used and resaleable donations to one of our two locations Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

ReStore located at 4900 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Behind the ReStore, our donation drop-off entrance is on the South side of the building, off Quincy St.

OR

Donation Center in Rio Rancho at 1525 Stephanie Rd. SE, Unit 207, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Far back door on right side.

Accepted Donations

A ReStore donations representative has final say after in-person review.

Appliances, cooktops, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers, cabinet sets, singles and vanities.

  • Must be complete with no nails or screws pointing out. All doors & drawers must be intact and attached. No cabinet parts.

Doors – French doors, panel doors, sliding doors, solid core, commercial grade, storm doors and pocket doors.

Electronics – TV’s – flat screen only, vacuums, household appliances and fans.

  • No computers over ten years old or car stereo parts.

Exercise equipment – Treadmills, ellipticals, weights, etc.

Furniture – Couches, sectionals, coffee & end tables, recliners, rockers, filing cabinets, office chairs, bedframes & bedroom sets, futon frames, dressers, nightstands, bookcases, hutch & buffet, credenza.

  • Must be in good, resalable condition with no pet damage, stains, rips or excessive wear.
  • Bed frames must include headboard, footboard, side rails and hardware.
  • No waterbeds, no adjustable sleep number beds.

Flooring – Ceramic tile, porcelain tile, laminate, vinyl, hardwood, marble, granite.

  • Must be in new and original packaging.
  • No carpet, no rugs.

HVAC – Galvanized Ducting, air conditioning units, window a/c, heaters, fans, swamp coolers, furnaces, woodburning stoves, space heaters.

Landscaping – Brick, stone, cinderblock, lawn-care tools, fencing.

Lighting & Electrical – LED light bulbs only, light fixtures, ceiling fans, chandeliers, indoor/outdoor fixtures, lamps, electrical parts, wires, plugs, fuses, junction boxes, etc.

  • No fluorescent fixtures or track lighting. No fluorescent incandescent tube light bulbs.

Lumber & Building Material – Plywood, Sheetrock, Trim, Insulation must be new and bagged.

  • 6′ or longer and half sheet or larger.

Mirrors – Only framed and smaller than 24″.

Paint – Only new and unused paint.

Piping – PVC and Electrical Conduit – must be 6′ or longer.

Plumbing – Surround tubs and showers, Sinks, Faucets, Toilets must be low flow and in like-new condition.

Roofing materials – Shingles, cutters, canales and roofing paper.

Tools and Hardware – Hand tools, power tools, bench tools, landscaping tools. Hardware such as nails, screws, hinges, knobs and drawer pulls,

Windows – Please, no nails or screws pointing out.

  • Counter Tops – granite or marble
  • Desks
  • Double Sink Vanities
  • Entertainment centers
  • Garage doors or openers
  • Water heaters OR softeners

Some of the Things We Can’t Take

Unfortunately, due to legal requirements and issues of resale-ability, we cannot accept items on the list below. This is not a comprehensive list:

  • Area rugs
  • Baby items
  • Bedding or blankets
  • Car parts
  • Carpet or carpet pad
  • Clothing
  • Computers
  • Electronics such as old computers or printers
  • Hot tubs or any jetted tubs
  • Household items such as; books, dishes, knick-knacks, linens, etc.
  • Light Bulbs
  • Fluorescent tube bulbs or incandescent bulbs
  • Marble shower walls
  • Mattresses or box springs
  • Medical equipment
  • Office cubicles
  • Paint (unless unopened & new)
  • Particle board
  • Pianos or organs
  • Shower doors (unless new & boxed)

Your donation is taken into the Habitat ReStore and sold to someone else in the community that will give it a second life. Proceeds from our ReStore sales help Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity partner with local families to provide affordable homes – impacting health, education and economic outcomes for our community!

All sorts of people shop at the ReStore! Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer, homeowner, renter, landlord, contractor, interior designer, environmentalist or treasure hunter, make Habitat for Humanity ReStore your first stop when shopping for your next home improvement, renovation or DIY project.

The prices are great and you never know what you will find. Also, all proceeds from ReStore sales support Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity’s mission to make sure everyone has a decent place to live. Shopping at the ReStore not only supports your community but also supports building affordable homes around the world. When you shop ReStore, you help Habitat build.

When gently used building materials or household products are donated to Habitat ReStore and then sold at a discount to a community member who needs it, those items are recycled and kept out of the landfill.
