Fair and equitable homeownership is the cornerstone for families to build intergenerational wealth and fuels better economic, health and educational outcomes. However, 1.8 billion people globally, do not have adequate and affordable housing.
Housing insecurity in Albuquerque is at an all-time high. The latest data suggests that when both homelessness and cost-burdened households are accounted for, tens of thousands of people are affected.
The housing crises we are facing stems mostly from a lack of sustainable, entry-level housing and run-away inflation. This imbalance has given way to disparities affecting the most vulnerable groups – households of color and low to moderate income families.
With homeownership out of reach for so many, racial, economic, health and educational disparities continue to deepen.
We are committed to removing barriers to affordable homeownership for the most vulnerable families in the Greater Albuquerque area. Since affordable homeownership is now out of reach for many median-income families, we have expanded our income guidelines to include moderate-income earners.
